Veteran local actor and prominent voice over artiste Thangamani Velayudan has passed away, aged 73.

He leaves behind wife Malliga, and two daughters.

The passing of the actor renowed for his baritone voice was confirmed by his family.

Thangamani is famous for his prominent role in local movie Vedigundu Pasanga.

Veteran artiste PK Samy introduced Thangamani to the entertainment industry in the 1970s, where he started off as a radio drama talent. He then switched to television when he started making appearances as villains in RTM TV dramas in the 80s.

His breakthrough in TV came through the Karai Ora Alaigal TV drama written by PK Samy, and directed by Vijayasingam.

The days that came saw Thangamani lending his distinctive and irreplaceable voice to RTM commercials, and also as voice talent, including to Astro's own channel shows, and promotions.

Thangamani's passing is a huge loss to the local Tamil entertainment industry indeed.

Astro Ulagam extends deepest condolences to the late actor's family and friends.
