Yet another politician has tested positive for COVID-19.

This time, it's Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Aziz, who's currently being warded at the Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

According to the Malay Mail, Nazri got admitted at the hospital yesterday after coming into contact with an Umno blogger who had recently tested positive for the virus, during the press conference to announce his withdrawal of support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, on January 12.

The blogger, Zaharin Mohd Yasin, had sat close to Nazri during the news conference.

As to why he is being warded in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Nazri said he had gone on e vacation to the state right after the press conference.

Of late, several politicians, including ministers and a deputy, have come down with the coronavirus.

These include Communications and Multimedia deputy minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin, Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Mohd Harun, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economic Affairs) Mustapa Mohamed, and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II Jeffrey Kitingan.

A number of other lawmakers have also fallen victim to the virus, namely Gua Musa MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, and PAS vice-president Senator Idris Ahmad, among others.

To date, there are a total of of 161,740 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, and 605 deaths.

The global infection and death tally from the coronavirus has surpassed 96 million and two million, respectively.
