Superintendent Saranavan Kanniappan has been appointed as the Assistant Director of the NCB Interpol, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Malaysian Police.

The 43-year-old from Air Tawar, Perak, told Astro Ulagam that his appointment was effective July 1.

For the uninitiated, NCB stands for National Central Bureaus. They are a country's focal point for all Interpol activities. Each of Interpol member countries host their own NCBs.

Saravanan joined the police force in the year 2003 as a cadet assistant superintendent and rose through the ranks throughout the years. He was promoted to Superintendent last year.

His most recent posting prior to the recent elevation to NCB Interpol was with the Forensics team, particularly related to human identification, where he spent four and a half years.

Saravanan hails from a Tamil school background, and his higher education - both diploma and degree, was from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is married with two kids.

Congratulations Tuan Saravanan! Best wishes for more successes in the future, and keep making the community proud!
