Taiping boy Sayniish Pillay Muniandy has recently graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) in New York, USA.

Sayniish was one of the four young Malaysians who were selected in 2017 to represent Malaysia at the prestigious US military academy. The young lad had then graduated from the National Defence Universiti Malaysia.

The 22-year-old had also excelled academically as a cadet at the US academy, including being honoured as the best squad leader by the academy's commandant, during a field training exercise, reported varnam.my.

Sayniish's mother had reportedly wanted him to join the military since he was a child.

In 2018, Sayniish also made headlines when his design was chosen as the official crest for his graduating class, following a competition.

His winning design incorporated the image of a US flag and an eagle - elements that had been part of West Point class crests since 1803.

According to a Free Malaysia Today (FMT) report, only 23 Malaysian cadets have been accepted into US military in the last 20 years.

The portal also reported that Sayniish plans to serve as an infantryman in Malaysia’s 8th Rangers of the Royal Ranger Regiment or in the Malaysian Army Aviation, upon graduation from the academy.

Kudos soldier for making the country proud!
