A total of 161 cops, and their family members, have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.

This includes 17 senior officers, 91 personnel, five civilian personnel, and 48 of their family members, Bukit Aman Management Department director Ramli Din was quoted saying by The Star.

According to him further, a further 2,012 police officers and personnel have been quarantined.

"They are 292 senior officers, 1,310 personnel, 85 civilian personnel and 325 family members.

"The risk and dangers faced by all frontliners are real and they sacrifice their well-being for the sake of breaking the chain of COVID-19 infection," he said, further urging the public to stay vigilant during the pandemic and practice self-restraint.

There has been a spike in COVID-19 cases of late, with a record high of 1,228 cases reported on Saturday.

The total number of infections and deaths in the country currently stands at 26,565 and 229, respectively.

Globally, the coronavirus has infected more than 43.3 million people and killed over 1.15 million.
