Five Unique Ramadan Bazaar Food to Try

1. Bubur Lambuk

Bubur Lambuk is a flavourful rice porridge with a variety of ingredients such as sweet potatoes, prawns/beef and herbs. It is a comfort food and mostly taken because it is easy to digest.

2. Pulut Udang/ Pulut Panggang

Pulut udang, also called Pulut Panggang, is grilled over charcoal and is made from only two ingredients: glutinous rice with a filling of spicy dried shrimps. The rice is infused with the aroma of the banana leaf it is wrapped in.

3. Somsom

Somson is a rice flour custard and is eaten with a drizzle of gula melaka syrup. It is dairy- free and can be eaten hot or cold.

4. Air Katira

Katira is a refreshing drink that is available only during Ramadan. Served with crush ice or ice cubes, it contains katira (tragacanth gum), kamang, basil seeds, barley syrup and evaporated milk. A few drops of food colouring are added to make it look more festive.

5. Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak

The patin fish is slathered with a generous amount of tempoyak (fermented durian) and grilled to perfection. Lip smacking delicious indeed.
