Muslim Preacher Shah Shanmugam Apologises for Insulting Hinduism

Even before the dust has settled over the controversy around Ustaz Zamri Vinod's insults on Hinduism and his subsequent detainment, another preacher has followed his footsteps and made degrading remarks about the Hindu religion. 

Ustaz Muhammad Shah Shanmugam, a preacher in Penang's Islamic Religious Department, is a well-known religious speaker. He even has an official Facebook page with over 10,000 likes.

Recently, he made a speech which was recorded and went viral. The video which shows him making insulting comments about Hindu gods has gotten netizens furious. Here's some of what he said in the video:

"I feel pity looking at Hindu idols. They just sit there. Cannot close eyes, cannot turn right or left. People fall in front of them, they can't do anything. In fact, others have to lift them up if they fall," he said in the 3-minute video.

Following the public backlash, Shah Shanmugam released an apology video asking people to forgive his behaviour and give him an opportunity to repent. He even promised to never repeat his mistakes in the future. Take a look:
