At least two-thirds of the world's population will be wiped off if a volcano located in Yellowstone National Park (US) erupts. Geologists warn that the magnificent eruption will destroy the entire US!

In his statement to Daily Star, Dr. Jerzy Zaba of the University of Silesia in Poland claimed the eruption is very dangerous and it is an inevitable natural phenomenon. He said:

"I predict an eruption similar to the one from 640,000 years ago would destroy most of the United States' territories. The erupted materials would cover everything within a 500 km radius with a meter-thick layer."

"Due to the emission, of dust, gases or sulfur monoxides into the atmosphere, we would witness a cooling of the climate. I estimate, due to the effects of climate change, around five billion people would die from hunger," he added.

For the record, in about 2.1 million years, the crater had erupted three times and the landscape would change every time it happened.

According to Dr. Zaba, the only way to avoid the deaths is to conduct mass transfers locally especially when there are signs of an eruption in the near future.

Since 2001, the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory (YVO) led by the US Geological Survey has conducted detailed observations of the crater.
