Surya-Ponggal-Timing-For-2019

Ponggal is a harvesting festival which is observed by Hindus all over the world. On par with the saying 'Thai Piranthal Vazhi Pirakkum', we celebrate this festival with the hopes that the birth of Thai month will pave way for new opportunities.

In 2019, this four-day celebration will fall on the following dates:

Boghi Ponggal: 14th January
Thai Ponggal: 15th January
Maatu Ponggal: 16th January
Kaanum Ponggal: 17th January

During Thai / Surya Ponggal, it is a custom to cook ponggal (a mixture of rice and milk) during sunrise or sunset and offer the dish to Surya Bagavan (God of Sun). And this year, the auspicious time to conduct the prayer is between 7.00am and 10.25am (Malaysian time). If you are working and unable to make ponggal in the morning, then the next auspicious time is between 6.00pm and 7.25pm (Malaysian time).

May this Ponggal bring luck and prosperity to your home. Happy Ponggal!
