Manmarziyaan Review:

Set in Amritsar, movies start off with a beat and two passionate lovers come into the picture. Rumi (Taapsee Pannu) and Vicky (Kaushal) are young and Tinder generation lovers who can barely keep their hand off each other. In no time, they became the talk of the town and causes discomfort to Rumi’s family.

Rumi comes across a strong-willed woman who curses as much as she loves. Vicky on the other is a struggling DJ who takes life as it comes and too carefree for Rumi to depend on. Rumi pops the question., “Will you marry me?” to Vicky and this became the tiebreaker to their relationship. Here’s where Robbie (Abhishek Bachchan) comes in the love triangle.
Robbie’s entry into the screen space bring along a sense of maturity and calmness to Rumi’s soul and desire for Vicky but her mind is still divided with Vicky’s frequent interruption to her married life. Robbie puts forward an option to Rumi and gives her time to decide who she really wants to be with. Manmarziyaan gives you the realism of heartbreak and clash of hearts as real as it can get, and the power performance by Taapsee, Abhishek and Vicky individually are amazing.

Throughout the movie, you might find the movie is a little too mature for the average audience. But that’s Anurag Kashyap specialty, we can never expect the usual out of his extraordinary direction. The music of the movie by Amit Trivedi also deserves an applaud as it’s like a breath of fresh air and safe to say, even the best movie album of 2018. Each song blends so beautifully within the storyline and the concept of the background dancers dancing on the screen space is very refreshing.

Watch Manmarziyaan if you want to experience the whirlwind of emotions of the young souls and come out from the theatre having your question answered if love is all you need, or there’s more to the idea of love?
