Suhana on Vogue

  • 02 Aug 2018

Being a star-kid to King of Bollywood, ShahRukh Khan, many of us think that’s the luckiest thing on earth and comes with a lot of perks. We often assume that these star kids enjoy all the media attention on them.

On being asked the same, Suhana said, “I realised quite early on that it was different for us. But I never really thought about my dad being famous. When I was about five, he would come and drop me to school, and people would point and stare. He wasn’t being addressed as Suhana’s dad, which is what I wanted. It confused me. He would want to hug me, and I would push him back in the car. I hated the attention, it made me very self-conscious.”

But Suhana came to term with it overtime and learnt to embrace the beauty behind it. “I realised if I wanted to hug my dad, he’s my dad—I’m just going to hug him.”

Talking about the same, ShahRukh who was also present during the interview, further added, “I don’t think parents bring up children, I think children bring up parents. I think they’ve brought us up well. I don’t have many friends, but my kids are my friends—I’m easiest around them. I’m usually very awkward around women, but I’m very close to Suhana—she has said things to me that no woman has ever said to me in my life.”

Suhana is pursuing her studies in London and currently preparing for her international baccalaureate exam and graduate from school. Soon after, she’s looking to enrol in a university and study acting. Following the footstep of her brother, Aryan who is already studying filmmaking in Los Angeles, Suhana is also certain of what she wants to do for future.

“I don’t think there was any one moment when I decided. Since I was young, I’d do all these accents and impressions. But my parents only realised I was serious about acting when they saw a performance of mine for the first time. I was playing Miranda in a school performance of The Tempest.”

Looks like we have a lot to look forward from King Khan’s kids. Suhana also did a rapid-fire session on some interesting questions from Vogue:

Answer: I have crooked fingers 😊

Answer: Black Mirror and Orange is The New Black
Answer: I don’t think it’s cool but we’re really shy.
Answer: She can be really loud!

ShahRukh Khan, being a proud father, also took to Twitter to share the Vogue cover featuring Suhana with an endearing caption:
We hope to see polished kids of King Khan to follow in his footsteps and bring something new to Bollywood soon!
