Travel Guide: Best Countries to Visit Every Month of 2018

  • 13 Mar 2018

We all know that Malaysia is the land of public holidays. The past few years have been a blessing to Malaysian travellers as public holidays have been falling in such a way that it’s giving us long weekends.

This year, you can completely utilise your public holidays to fit all your travel plans! From short getaways to long holidays… Whether you have a few days of annual leaves to spare or a very minimal budget, we have suggestions for everyone.

Here’s our compilation of the best countries to visit every month and as a BONUS TIP—in most of the months—we are also revealing the dates you can apply for annual leaves to get more days off for your travels.

March 2018: Siem Reap, Cambodia
BONUS TIP: Apply for leaves on any Thursdays and Fridays of the month.

It’s sad that there are no long weekends in this month. However, if you can shelve out two days from your annual leaves to visit the culturally-immersive Siem Reap, it’s totally worth it!

Plan or book a 4 days and 3 nights package, for a serene and deeply-spiritual retreat. Nothing beats a few days of exploring the remains of Angkor Wat; the sunrise is breath-taking and picturesque.

Also, Cambodians are cheerful, vibrant and hardworking folks. We are pretty sure you’ll be back to your desk, completely rejuvenated.
April 2018: Seoul, South Korea
BONUS TIP: Get your days off on the 26th, 27th and 30th April to travel 6 days in South Korea.

A week in South Korea is definitely not sufficient to fully discover this K-pop haven. However, you can choose to explore Seoul and Nami Island while making pit stops at any ancient temples or historical monuments around.

If you are a fan of K-pop or unusual sub-cultures, don’t miss out on their ‘Noraebang’ session (Karaoke) and street culture in the cities.
May 2018 : Auckland, New Zealand
BONUS TIP: Apply for leaves the entire week from 28th May to 1st June. With only 4 annual leaves used up, you get to enjoy 9 days in New Zealand.

Head off to New Zealand for the quiet and peace you’ve been yearning for. Don’t misjudge the country for the tranquillity it offers. There are plenty of adventure sports if you want to flex your muscles and make your heart race with some good old adrenaline-pumping activities.

You can plan a self-driving tour for 9 days after flying into Auckland. From snow-capped mountains to nostalgic small towns, New Zealand will stun you at every turn you take.
June 2018: Hanoi, Vietnam
BONUS TIP: You can choose to take days off on either 14th June or 19th June to explore Hanoi for 4 days.

Raya holidays can definitely hike up flight and accommodation prices but this place is definitely worth the extra cost! Hanoi is big and chaotic, but everything else is great. Food, shopping, relaxation, and sight tours, you name it! Alternatively, you can take an overnight detour to Halong Bay. Treat yourself to a little luxury with their cruise packages there.

All-in-all, Hanoi is the perfect weekend destination if you want to stick to a small budget yet have a fulfilling travel experience.
July 2018: Bali, Indonesia

BONUS TIP: Apply for leaves on any Thursdays and Fridays of the month.

With no public holidays to spare in July, don’t lose hope. A quick getaway with your loved ones is all the break you need from work. Bali is THE place for you to unwind and enjoy the sun and wind on the beaches—completely relaxed and chilled.

Bali caters to all kinds of travellers and if you want a wilder, over the top holiday, feel free to hit the Kuta or Canggu streets to enjoy the nightlife.
August 2018: Kerala, India
BONUS TIP: Apply for leaves from 23rd to 24th August and 28th to 30th August. Just five days of leaves will give you a whopping 12 days of relaxation.

Merdeka celebrations always make the streets and vibe in KL merrier than usual. But do you know where else you can head to if you are planning a nice stress-free vacation?

Kerala. An ancient land gifted with the art of Ayurveda. This health retreat is exactly what you need to reignite your spirits to continue the year.

September 2018: Tokyo, Japan

BONUS TIP: Take off from 12th to 14th September and in return, you get 9 days of holidays.

September’s just a start of celebrations we will be having in the coming months. Indulge in the unique cultures and practices of the Japanese in a 9-day trip to Tokyo. Japanese are well-known for their culture, cuisine, and hospitality.

Despite following deeply-engraved cultural teachings, Japan is a vibrant city of advanced technologies. If you are looking to explore a place with contrasting worlds of culture and technology, stop here. You have found your next destination!
October 2018: Golden Triangle, India
BONUS TIP: Take 5 full days off on any Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to get 9 days of the majestic North India.

October is definitely public holiday-free month, however, if you are looking to finish your annual leaves as the year is ending soon, it’s the perfect time to complete the famed Golden Triangle of North India.

Experience history, culture, traditions and majestic beauty of North India in 9 days. Seems like a short time, but you can definitely check out Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur—each depicting different flavours of India.
November 2018: Kathmandu, Nepal
BONUS TIP: Apply for leaves from 5th to 9th November. With only 4 days of leaves, you get to visit Nepal for 9 days.
It’s the month of the festival of lights. Head to Nepal to experience the colours and cheer of Deepavali as the country is known to be very festive during the celebration. You can also sign up for short hikes near Kathmandu and explore the surrounding cities.
