Kumaravel’s Journey: International Pesu Tamizha Pesu 2017

  • 09 Nov 2017

It’s a dream come true for me to get this far! I’m quite excited to represent Malaysia in the upcoming International Pesu Tamizha Pesu 2017.

My life journey started in Kapar. My family consists of my loving parents Vealan and Pushpam, my elder brother, elder sister and I am the youngest.

It was my parents who encouraged me to take part in competitions since small. They taught me to be bold and confident. I joined my first competition during my primary school days in SJKT Methodist. I learned to face my fear since a kid when I took part in competitions such as storytelling and essay writing.

During my secondary school days in SMK Tengku Idris Shah, I took part in competitions such as debate and poem reciting in Tamil, English and Malay Languages. I was also selected to be a part of a National Level Debate Competition (Tamil), where I got the 2nd place!

After completing my secondary school, I joined the Perak Matriculation College. I first heard about Pesu Tamizha Pesu competition once I have completed my matriculation. But the situation was not suitable that time and I was not enrolled under any institution. Thus, I couldn’t take part.

After that, I enrolled in University Putra Malaysia to study Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. I learned that UPM has a debate club which is very inactive. But due to the passion I have in debate, together with a few other students, we formed a group and started joining competitions actively.

During that time, I came across an advertisement for Pesu Thamizha Pesu in an online portal and was quite eager to join. I sent in the audition video and got selected. However, I could not prepare properly as I was quite busy with my assignments. I gave my best shot and somehow succeeded.

Since the following round was held during the semester break, I performed well and was selected for the final. And now I’m among the top 3 to represent Malaysia.

I knew I gave a 100% effort and I couldn’t have come this far without the support of my family, friends, and teachers. Now I’m representing Malaysia in the International Pesu Tamizha Pesu competition and would like to thank everyone who has supported me this far…
