1. Puranpoli

This dish, made from flour with lentil paste and jaggery is a Maharashtrian delicacy. If you visit the Indian state, you'll be surprised to discover that every family has their own recipe for this flat bread. In fact, its preparation also differs from regions in the state. In the Konkan belt, for instance, the stuffing is grated coconut.

2. Misa Mach Poora

Grilled shrimp roasted on banana leaves placed on hot charcoals, the dish for seafood lovers is peppered with fragrant spices. Commonly served with steamed rice, the simple preparation is what makes this dish unique to the taste and good for the tummy.

3. Unidhiyu

One of the most popular dishes in Gujarat, the Unidhiyu is made out of potatoes, purple yam, peas, green beans, eggplant, and many other vegetables. All of these ingredients are slowly cooked in earthen pots placed upside down which are heated – and here's the kicker: from above.

4. Chamani Qaliya

Consisting of cottage cheese a.k.a. the paneer, curd, spices and milk, the Chanmani Qaliya is an authentically delicious Kashmiri dish. In order to prepare this unique dish, Kashmiris use earthenware. Apparently using these utensils will help in giving the dish its unique flavor and smell.

5. Bhutte Ka Kees

One of Madhya Pradesh's famous street snack, this grated corn with milk and spice delicacy is commonly found in the city of Indore, which is not surprising as the place is popular for its dairy sweets and chaat.

6. Bisibelebhath

Known for its tart taste, this dish is made out of spices such as curry leaves, nutmeg, tamarind pulp mixed with lentil vegetables and rice. Highly nutritious, this dish is served best with papadom and curd.

7. Makke Di Roti and Sarson Da Saag

A traditional dish from the state of Punjab, the flat bread is made out of corn flour and is served with green gravy created out of spinach, fenugreek, mustard leaves, radish, and spices. Commonly prepared during the cold season, this dish is best served with some butter and jaggery.
