Vaastu Shastra is the Indian science of direction that combines all the five elements of nature called 'Panchbhootas'- earth, fire, water, sky and space.

Out of the nine planets in the solar system, our planet is able to support life because of the presence of these five elements.

Vaastu Shastra is about creating the best environment to live or work, in a scientific manner. It paves a way for enlightenment, happiness and prosperity for its users.

The Directions

The importance of the orientation of a building is not only aesthetically pleasing but also creates good health, prosperity and wealth for its inhabitants. The proper orientation means the correct application of all the eight directions – North, North East, South, South East, East, West, North West, South West.

There is also a co-relation between the rotation of the planets and a house design; and their different directions in respect to North. The corner where two directions meet is seen as more significant since it combines the forces emanating from both directions. Every direction has its own significance and has its own construction.

The building of any type and its construction can only meet its fullest purpose if its orientation is correct and built with suitable building materials. It not only increases its life span but also the emotional welfare of its occupants.

There have been instances where buildings were not planned according to its local and correct orientation and they deteriorated much faster than the ones built with proper orientations.

To fully reap the benefits of the Vaastu Shastra principles, one must follow it to the T - from choosing a plot to moving into the house. Everything should be done accordingly because it is science and is a bridge between man and nature.

Vaastu Shastra is followed when to choose a plot and how to do it - the shape of it, the nature of its soil. When it comes to constructing a house, it guides on how to do the interiors, how to choose the colours and even when to shift in. It involves complex scientific reasoning that is not based on superstition.

Vaastu Shastra is a branch of science that originated from India. Feng Shui is an art to harness energies. Though both have same objectives but their principles are very different. Vaastu Shastra is based on Indian culture, traditions, and geographical and climatical conditions of India. While Feng Shui is originated in China and based on their culture and traditions.
