Shankar's ambition to create a science fiction movie begin in the 90s when he finished the script for a movie titled 'Robot'.

The lead in the movie was none other than Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta. A duo which we have not seen pairing up on screen before.

Despite completing the photo shoot, the project got cancelled and the movie was shelved due to a certain reason.

But Shankar made his dream project 'Enthiran' come true in the year 2010 with Superstar Rajinikanth and beauty Queen Aishwarya Rai in the lead. And the movie broke box office records as expected.

For the sequal of Enthiran, Shankar originally wanted to cast Amir Khan in the lead who declined due to busy schedule. And his second option was actually Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the year 2011.

But Shah Rukh Khan who originally agreed for the movie, declined it due to Shankar's working style who didn't want to finish the movie in one go.

Many rumoured that the baton will be passed to Kamal Haasan again, who was the first join the project since Rajinikanth declined the project due to his health condition. But, then he came back stronger and the sequel has hit the cinemas with Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson in the lead role.
