The meaning of culture shock is hilariously explored in the upcoming Tamil comedy, "Sumo".

The film revolves around a Japanese sumo wrestler who stays in Chennai and his reactions to living in a foreign land. It stars real life Sumo wrestler, Yoshinori Tashiro, actors Yogi Babu, Priya Anand and VTV Ganesh among others.

Filmmaker Hosimin came up with the unusual script and talked about his experience making it, "While I've penned the story and screenplay, Shiva has written the dialogues. Ace lensman Rajiv Menon cranking the camera has been a boon for us. The movie will be visually rich, thanks to his contribution. He really liked the story of a sumo coming to Chennai. It's not that easy to get a cinematographer like him on board. He would say okay to a shot only if he is completely satisfied."

"We have shot the film in both Japan and India, and he has brought the required balance in terms of the visual appeal. He has done a lot of research on sumo wrestling, which is an added advantage for the project. Similarly, Shiva has gone that extra mile for the movie - his involvement was much bigger than what he does for other films - he was part of the location scouting, too. He plays a surfing trainer based out of ECR."

"We had auditioned several sumo wrestlers and finally roped in Yoshinori Tashiro to play the character. I don't think there has ever been a movie made on sumo wrestlers here - there have been documentaries, but not feature films. The movie, which highlights the fact that love and humanity transcends all barriers, will be high on comedy and emotion."

It truly does sound original and interesting. The rest of the crew certainly thought so and were eager to offer their experiences too -

I always need subjects that get me charged up. I am a great fan of Japanese films and love their culture. I found this story of a sumo wrestler quite interesting. I have a liking for them; they are like babies, but so powerful. It was A challenge shooting a film like this

- Rajiv Menon, cinematographer

This is by far the most relaxed set I have been on. After "Vanakkam Chennai", this is my second film with Shiva... I have an interesting role, the film's content can attract all sections of audience, and most importantly, Rajiv sir is a part of the film. what more reasons do you need to sign this project?

- Priya Anand, actor

The movie focuses on the most important aspect of our life - love. That's the only thing that can break barriers and solve the issues we have across the world. The film conveys a simple truth - life is simple and we are complicating it unnecessarily. Vazhakkam pola, I play a useless guy in this project.

- Shiva, actor

Let's hope it gets wrapped up and released quickly as this sounds like a film not to be missed!
