Hindraf is fearing for the safety of Minister in Prime Minister’s Department, P. Waytha Moorthy and want the police to give him more protection in the wake of the recently-foiled assassination and terror attack plot.

Hindraf legal advisor Karthig Shan, in a statement on May 14, said it was worrying that the arrested ISIS-linked plotters had planned to kill high profile personalities because they believed these people had failed to protect Islam and put down the religion.

Karthig said Hindraf supporters were worried because Waytha had been attacked at his office on August 16. 2017. He pointed out that Waytha had also been specifically targeted during the anti-Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Form of Racial Discrimination) rally earlier this year, and had been made a scapegoat after the riots at the Sri Mariamman temple in Seafield in November 2018, which caused the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Kassim.

Earlier this week Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador revealed that four men had been arrested on suspicion of terrorist activities. The men, believed to have been taking their orders from ISIS, allegedly planned to attack non-Muslim houses of worship and assassinate VIPs to avenge the death of Muhammad Adib.
